2 in police custody after barricaded person incident in Myrtle Beach. What we know so far

The Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to an active barricaded person situation near Highway 15 and the Myrtle Beach International Airport.

Myrtle Beach Police have two people in custody after responding to a barricaded person situation at the 1200 block of Rosehaven Drive near the Myrtle Beach International Airport Friday.

Police said Friday evening 38-year-old Michael James Gatling was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and 75-year-old Gail Gatling was charged with obstructing justice.

Officers first arrived at the scene to respond to a report of an assault around 9 a.m., but the situation “evolved into a barricaded person,” according to a statement shared to the department’s Facebook page.

According to Myrtle Beach Police public information officer Randolph Angotti, no one was injured or killed during the incident.
