2 teens in Millwood High School gun case plead guilty

Two teens charged after a duffel bag of guns was found near Millwood High School in Middle Sackville this spring have pleaded guilty to some of the charges they face.

The pair, whose identities are protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were scheduled to appear in youth court in Halifax today for the start of a trial scheduled to last eight days. Instead, they each pleaded guilty to one weapons charge and one charge of theft under $5,000.

Other charges they face are expected to be dealt with when they're sentenced in December.

The two were arrested in April outside the high school. RCMP found a bag containing two long guns, two BB-type guns and some ammunition in a wooded area nearby. The school was briefly placed in lockdown following the discovery and the arrest of the two teens.

A third accused, Jonathan Murray, 19, was charged along with the teens with conspiracy to commit murder. He was also charged with uttering death threats against a vice-principal at the school.

The conspiracy charges against all three have been withdrawn.

Murray is scheduled to go to trial on the threats charges next March. He is also facing unrelated charges of sexual luring.
