2 youth charged with murder following a death in Yorkton, Sask.

Two youths face a charge of first-degree murder following a death in Yorkton, Sask., earlier this month.

On Sept. 13, RCMP got a call about someone lying on Wellington Park Road in Yorkton, about 328 kilometres east of Saskatoon. The man was found unresponsive and taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the victim as Lawrence Skoretz, 67, from Yorkton. The two youths charged in the death have not been identified because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Two days after the initial call police deemed the death suspicious and further investigation revealed the two youth accused and the victim had an interaction and a physical altercation at a park in Yorkton during the early morning hours of Sept. 13.

The accused were arrested on Sept. 22 and charged with murder in relation to the death. The accused also face charges of robbery with violence. They've been remanded into custody and are expected to make their first court appearance today at 9:30 a.m. CST.
