20-year-old killed in fiery Arlington car crash Saturday evening

A 20-year-old man is dead and a 18-year-old is in critical condition after Arlington police said they were in a crash in the 4000 block of South Center Street Saturday evening.

Police said they arrived at the scene around 6:30 p.m. Saturday to find that a Mustang had lost control while changing lanes, crossed over the median and crashed into two other vehicles before the Mustang caught fire. When officers arrived, bystanders had pulled the two people from the vehicle.

The two were taken to a nearby hospital, where the 20-year-old died and the 18-year-old is in critical condition, according to police.

The Mustang after crossing the median struck a Chevrolet Silverado and a Mitsubishi Lancer, according to police. The drivers of those vehicles were not seriously injured.

Investigators have not ruled out speed as a cause for the crash, according to police. The name of the man killed will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after next-of-kin has been notified.
