20-year-old mother-to-be is killed in a two-car crash in Oakland Park, BSO says

A Royal Palm Beach woman, six months into her pregnancy, died Monday night after a two-car crash at the intersection of Oakland Park Boulevard and North Dixie Highway, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Julie Ybanez was 20 years old.

Ybanez had been in the passenger seat of William Woods’ 2006 Chevrolet Impala as they headed west on Oakland Park Boulevard around 10:50 p.m. Neckson Faustin, going east on Oakland Park Boulevard in his 2019 Toyota Corolla, T-boned the Impala on the passenger side as Woods turned.

The crash, BSO said, sent the Impala into a utility pole and trapped Ybanez in the front seat.

BSO said Oakland Park Fire Rescue took Ybanez and the 27-year-old drivers to Broward Health Medical Center. Ybanez was declared dead, but doctors delivered her child.

He died shortly after his birth, BSO said.

The crash remains under investigation.
