2017 Jack Frost Festival will be a birthday bash for Canada

The Jack Frost Children's Winterfest is back again this February, and this time it will be Canadian themed to celebrate the country's 150th birthday.

The festival is running February 24 – 26, 2017.

In a press release, organizers described the Outdoor Snow Kingdom as a journey across Canada. The snow slides, sculptures and play zones are all back, along with the warm up zone inside the Eastlink Centre, that will have bouncy castles, a petting zoo and more.

Kids young and old will be entertained by Treehouse TV's Splash'N Boots and Brent and Sarah, a husband and wife magic and comedy team.

Festival continues to add to economy

The festival has been held in Charlottetown since 2005, and has continuously brought in visitors from off-Island and along with them spin-offs.

"The Jack Frost Children's Winterfest is a great event that drives visitation in February to hotels in Charlottetown," said Craig Jones, President of the Hotel Association of PEI.

"In 2016, the Festival resulted in 870 trackable room nights and we are forecasting for a 20 per cent growth in 2017. This will be achieved by a focused marketing campaign in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick markets."

There are hotel packages and tickets available online now.
