22 Latino Voters Are Confessing Who They're Supporting For President, And It's Truly Revealing
Hello folks, we're back with BuzzFeed's 2024 Election Diaries! Inspired by one of the most divided election years in US history, I ask different groups of voters what their #1 political issue is AND which candidate they plan to vote for in November.
For this round, we asked Latino voters to share what issues matter most during this upcoming election and who they plan to support for president.
Latinos currently make up 15% of the US electorate and will significantly impact the outcome of the 2024 election.
Whether you agree or not, here are 22 anonymous political confessions from Latino voters:

1."As a Latina, my top political concerns are every single thing in Project 2025. It's like they looked at everything on the liberal and leftist agenda and just said, 'Let's do the opposite,' just for spite. Most of these policies will hurt everyone involved, and the ramifications will last for generations."
2."As a Mexican American Republican, my main concern is that several ‘Republicans’ in office are unhinged, incapable, and severely racist. I would like to see a real conservative Republican running for president. Trump is not conservative, and he wants the role of president to run our country as a dictator."
3."I was born in Mexico and moved to the United States when I was 20 years old in 1995. I have since started a family and my own small business. I’ve seen firsthand the dangers of the Middle Americas and South America. We must close the border to shut down the influx of criminals while also finding a better path to citizenship for those who respect the laws of this country."
4."I've been voting third party since 2016; there will never be a 'perfect' presidential candidate, but if our best options are geriatrics, I'll vote for the youngest. However, we really need to implement ranked voting because this clearly isn't working out. I'd rather expatriate and end up abroad than stick around for Project 2025 to play out."
5."My biggest issues are the economy and treating our immigrant community right. We all deserve to live a good life after a hard day's work, regardless of occupation. Us Latinos work harder than any other group and are exploited so regularly that it is almost a running joke in society."
6."I am voting for Trump because he is better on the border and economy, and he doesn’t appear weak. He is a businessman, not some career politician. We Latinos love him! Viva El Trump!"
7."How any Latin person, especially a woman, can vote for Trump is beyond me. I don't think Biden is the ideal candidate either, but I would never vote for someone who attempted to go against the Constitution of this country."
8."The majority of people have been brainwashed by their respective parties, having a black-and-white view of the world. RFK Jr. has addressed these exact concerns, vowing to deal with the housing crisis and the rapid inflation we are seeing without the huge drawbacks on our rights that Biden and Trump would be pushing."
9."There's an abundance of issues of concern for me in this election, but paramount amongst them is foreign policy — namely, the war in Ukraine."
10."Unfortunately, even as a lifelong Democrat, I don't feel like I have the choice anymore to vote for Biden. He has shown a lack of competency and a failure to steer the country in the right direction. I don't like Trump, but in this election, I really think he is the lesser of two evils."
11."I’m a registered Democrat but align far more left than the current party platform. I strongly dislike both candidates. It’s very difficult to justify voting for Biden, but there’s absolutely no way to justify voting for Trump and all that he represents."
12."Biden's accomplishments have gone unnoticed. He is super old but better than a dictator who minimizes Latinos' contributions to society and wants us to be second-class citizens."
13."Women's rights are my top issue, and I'm supporting President Biden because he is willing to work with the Republicans. To me, he represents comfort in the fact that things under his watch will be dealt with humanely."
14."I remember the cost of living being so much more affordable than it is now. Trying to start my adult life in the midst of recession and terrible inflation has become so difficult. I want to be able to afford a house one day, and I know that Biden’s economy just is not helping."
15."Biden will do what’s right for this country and not try to regulate women’s bodies. Also, this country is built on immigrants, and he understands that."
16."The economy felt so much better under Trump. People were mad about his presidency, but the country was running smoothly. Now, under Biden, every system is falling apart, and the poor guy just needs to retire peacefully. We need to be taken seriously again as a country. We’ve been a laughingstock to the rest of the world."
17."Biden is a far better option than Trump by a long shot, even if he is in his 80s and has a stutter. Biden cares about teachers, wants to preserve the Department of Education, and has made it clear that he supports access to contraceptives and women's rights to make decisions about their own bodies. He may not be the perfect candidate, but he's a good man whose platform aligns with my beliefs."
18."The cost of living is my top issue. Both Trump and Biden had their chance, but they messed it up in their own way. A situation like the current one in our country requires a real change in leadership."
19."I care about many of the issues facing us today, but the damage done to our air, waterways, land, and crops is some of the most damaging to human health and is not easily reversed. RFK Jr. spent decades as an environmental lawyer and wants to pivot to renewable energy and hold corporations accountable."
20."Women's rights are my top issue. I have four sisters, and I'll be damned if some white conservative men feel they have the right to tell a woman what they can or cannot do with their bodies."
21."Immigration is most important to me this election. I think Trump has always shown that he is stable and wise with his choices. He also cares for the safety of Americans, and he will get the immigration system under control."
And finally...
22."Roe, Roe, Roe your vote."
