Former Spencer's Employees Shared Their Secrets And Stories, And I Didn't See These Coming At All

We asked former Spencer's employees of the BuzzFeed Community to share their experiences about working at the, uh, "naughty" gift store. Here are some of the most interesting responses:

DISCLAIMER: Obviously, we can't 100% confirm all of these stories, but these people are supposedly speaking from their own experiences as alleged former employees.

1."I worked at Spencer's in my small town—my manager was kind of...wild. This woman was well into her 30s. One day, I think it was New Year’s Eve or something, I went to her house for a small get-together. She then showed me into a room with at least 10 huge boxes full of inventory she had stolen from Spencer's. I'm talking dildos, vibrators, lube, T-shirts, jewelry, mugs, games—you name it. A few weeks later, there was an audit, and thousands of dollars’ worth of stuff was gone. I don’t know what happened because I found a less toxic job after that. All I know is now she lives on the other side of the country."

3."I worked at Spencer's on and off for six years. A huge part of the job is just trying to stop every kid from stealing a keychain or a magnet."

4."I used to pierce people’s ears. My 'training' consisted of me shooting the piercing gun at a piece of paper with a dot on it once. I don’t even remember if I hit the dot. Then I was let loose to the public."

5."I was working at Spencer's, trying to get a supervisor position. I was told that I didn’t have what it takes and to try and learn from the other supervisor. After watching for weeks, I learned that they would pretend to ring up items, take the cash, and put it under the keyboard. The customer never asked for the receipt, and she pocketed the money. Hundreds of dollars were stolen each night. Not to mention, whatever merchandise she wanted, she took without paying."

10."Spencer’s sold body jewelry, including nipple rings. Customers would often ask, 'Would this fit my nipple?' as they took their breast out for me to examine. My response would always be, 'No need for that. These are all standard size.'”

11."Customers returned and exchanged adult toys. Were they used? Sometimes. Was it gross? Sometimes. Most customers were embarrassed and stated, 'It’s not working,' and we exchanged it. My favorite was the one who said, 'The toy isn’t pleasuring me the way I want to experience my orgasm.'"

15."The strangest thing was we were required to fold and set up our T-shirt displays in a VERY specific way. When we would have our store visits from the district manager, we could get written up for not having folded and lined up our shirts correctly."

25.And lastly, "This mom came in with her 2-year-old baby in his stroller. I was on my lunch break in the back room and just watching the cameras for entertainment. She went straight to the wall of vibrators, dildos, and cock rings and grabbed 15 vibrators and around 20 dildos, shoved them into the baby stroller, and put the stroller's cover over the baby, hiding everything. We called security and I had to walk with them around the mall to see if we would find her. Well, we didn’t."
