26-year-old killed trying to pass on highway between Tri-Cities and Dayton

A young man has died in a crash on Highway 124 between the Tri-Cities and Dayton, Wash.

Harley J. Bicknell, 26, of Prescott, was driving a Toyota Camry west and was about three miles east of Prescott when he started to pass a car about 12:20 p.m. Friday.

He lost control of the car and hit a concrete culvert beside the road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Bicknell died before he could be taken to a hospital. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to a WSP report.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

A second car, driven by Mario E. Hernandez, 70, of Prosser, hit debris in the roadway but he was not hurt.
