3.2 magnitude earthquake rattles Nominingue, Que., north of Mont Tremblant

An early-morning earthquake shook a town north of Mont Tremblant in Quebec's Laurentians region.

The 3.2 magnitude quake occurred at about 5:46 a.m. ET and was lightly felt in the town of Nominingue, QC, according to Earthquakes Canada.

It's the third earthquake to hit Quebec in just over a week.

Two days earlier, a smaller 2.7 magnitude earthquake rattled the region east of Montreal that includes Grand-Mere, Shawinigan and Trois-Rivières.

​On June 28, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake was felt northwest of La Pocatiere.

No damage was reported in any of the incidents.

About 200 small earthquakes a year typically occur in the area between Montreal and Ottawa — known as the Western Quebec Seismic Zone, according to Earthquakes Canada.
