17-month-old girl in critical condition after multi-car crash on Highway 401

A 17-month-old girl is in hospital with critical injuries after a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Toronto overnight Monday.

Paramedics were called to the scene shortly after 12:40 a.m. after three cars collided near the Leslie Street exit in Toronto.

A total of nine people were involved in the crash and five were injured, according to provincial police.

In addition to the baby girl, two other children were treated for minor injuries at a pediatric hospital and two adult women were taken to a local hospital.

The eastbound collectors lanes at Leslie Street were closed for about five hours while OPP investigated, but have since reopened for the morning rush hour.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who might have valuable information about the collision to contact the OPP.
