3 Mason County residents hurt in Friday wreck caused by oil spill, State Patrol says
Three Mason County residents were hurt Friday afternoon in a wreck caused by oil in the road, according to the Washington State Patrol.
All three — a man, woman and teen-age girl — were taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton.
About 1:40 p.m., a 43-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl from Tahuya were driving from state Route 3 onto southbound U.S. Highway 101. Troopers say they lost control of their vehicle and stopped on the right shoulder of the highway.
A 61-year-old Shelton man then made the same turn, also lost control and crashed into them, according to State Patrol.
Trooper Katherine Weatherwax said via social media that there had been a heavy oil spill in the area, resulting in several collisions.
It wasn’t immediately clear when the spill happened or what caused it.
