Man, 18, arrested after stolen car crashes in Winnipeg

Three Winnipeg men have been charged after a string of spring break-ins where more than $140,000-worth of construction materials was stolen.

Police said all of the thefts happened between March 2 and May 29. Most of the properties that were hit were homes under construction or for sale in the north part of the city.

The suspects made off with appliances, tools, copper products, furnaces and electrical panels, police said.

Police arrested the three men — aged 25, 27 and 33 — at 4:30 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of Spence Street. Search warrants were issued and investigators recovered about $100,000-worth of the stolen materials.

The men have been charged with a list of break and enter offences and remain in custody.
