Three more people have been charged with manslaughter in the death of a man following an assault in downtown Fredericton last month, say police.

Two males, aged 16 and 17, and Tyler Totten, 18, appeared before a judge Thursday, when they were each charged in the death of André Bourgeois, 41, of Grande-Digue, and released on conditions.

Bourgeois died as a result of injuries he sustained in a serious assault on Sept. 22, according to information presented in court. His obituary said he died on Sept. 27.

Fredericton police previously said they were investigating a serious assault that occurred in the early morning hours of Sept. 22 in the Tannery, a large courtyard area outside several bars, between King and Queen streets. "Two men were assaulted, one seriously," police said in a statement a week after the incident.

Earlier this month, a 17-year-old male was also charged with manslaughter in Bourgeois's death.

The youths cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The investigation continues, said police spokesperson Sonya Gilks.
