A 3-year-old girl drowned at a Miami-Dade park. Police are investigating

An outing at a Miami-Dade park ended tragically with a 3-year-old girl drowning in a lake on Saturday, police say.

Authorities searched the park — and found her in a body of water, investigators say. Hialeah Fire Rescue took the child to Palmetto General Hospital, where she died.

Family members have identified the child as 3-year-old Malaysia Dantzler.

The toddler’s relative remained on the scene and, according to police, has cooperated with the investigation.

A photo from a GoFundMe account set up to help the family of 3-year-old Malaysia Dantzler, shows the little girl with an image of the Disney movie, ‘The Princess and the Frog.’ She died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024, from drowning in a lake at Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah, according to police.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family pay for Malaysia’s funeral expenses.

“Malaysia was a beautiful soul; unfortunately, her soul has left this earth. On August 17, 2024,” the account’s organizer, Nigil Wright, wrote. “Our family got the most devastating news any parent wants to hear. We are lost for words right now and are trying to maneuver through this journey we find ourselves in. We are asking for any type of assistance with the burial services for our little princess.”
