3 new Ontario songs you need to hear this week

Every day, musicians write, record and release new music in Ontario. On CBC Radio One's In the Key of C, we try to highlight some of our favourites each week.

You can hear the show live every Saturday evening at 5 p.m. ET on CBC Radio One in Ontario. In the Key of C can be heard across the province, except for in the GTA. Hamilton listeners can hear the segment in the player above.

Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs: Judy

There's tons to love about these new tunes from Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs.

Judy is both parts power pop and Americana, with shades of the Hold Steady and The Replacements here.

This track is undeniably infectious. You can catch the band live on tour in Ontario in May and June, before their new record drops on July 28.

Talk Show Host: Fireworks

It's tough to cover The Tragically Hip. Their sound is iconic for a reason.

But Talk Show Host succeeds in making Fireworks their own here.

The band recorded it as a tribute to Gord Downie, who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer last year.

All proceeds from this track go to the Gord Downie Fund for brain cancer research.

Scott Orr: Undeniable

Undeniable is a new acoustic, live off the floor version of this tune.

Orr's music is often exceptionally soft.

But this version is so delicate, it feels like it's made of glass.
