Vermont State Police were alerted to a dead body in a container on a sandbar in the Missisquoi River on Feb. 6. The body was identified the next day as Kayla Wright, 29, who had been reported missing days earlier, according to state police.
Police say a medical examiner ruled that Wright had been shot in the head.
Five months later, police announced charges against three men. State police allege that Jakiy Tramaine Corey Keith, 24, shot Wright multiple times in Troy, Vt., because of a drug trafficking dispute. Police did not say what the nature of the dispute was.
Aaron Camp, 34, and Terron Pendleton, 34, are accused of helping Keith clean the crime scene, before Keith and Camp allegedly disposed of Wright’s body in a “large toolbox,” according to state police.

Camp was charged with unauthorized burial or removal of a body and accessory after the fact to murder, state police say. Pendleton is also facing the same accessory charge.
It is not immediately clear if any of the three suspects have entered a plea or retained attorneys. State police say because Keith is still in federal custody, it is not yet clear when he will be arraigned on the murder charge.
Wright's sister Samantha Perkins spoke to WCAX after he body was found.
“She was just... my person, my best friend," she said. "I love her and miss her."
