2 drivers faces charges after 3-car crash injures 3 on U.S. 287 in Fort Worth, police say
Three people were injured in a three-car crash involving two suspected drunk drivers that closed lanes of U.S. 287 early Monday morning in Fort Worth, according to police.
The southbound lanes of 287 near Village Creek Road and Loop 820 were shut down following the accident in a construction zone about 2:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11. The lanes reopened about 7:15 a.m., according to TxDOT.
Police said that a dark-colored SUV hit a temporary construction barrier on a ramp, and the driver of a Dodge stopped to help. The Dodge was then struck by an Infiniti.
Two people in the Infiniti were seriously injured, police said. They were extricated from the car and taken to a hospital. They are expected to survive.
A third person who was standing outside the car had minor injuries, authorities said.
The driver of the SUV was arrested at the scene of the crash and faces a charge of driving while intoxicated, according to police. The driver of the Infiniti also is expected to face a charge of intoxication assault after being released from the hospital.
