Toronto man, 22, 'fighting for his life' after Woodbridge nightclub triple-shooting

A Toronto man has life-threatening injuries after an overnight triple-shooting at a Vaughan nightclub.

The shooting happened at Cameo Lounge at 4120 Steeles Avenue West near Weston Road in Woodbridge, with York Regional Police getting a call around 2:40 a.m.

A woman, 26, from Aurora was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, along with another man, also 26, from Toronto. Police say they will both be released on Monday.

A second Toronto man, 22, remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries, and Const. Andy Pattenden said he is now "fighting for his life."

Shots were fired outside the club and hookah lounge. Pattenden said it was a very "busy scene," with around 150 people inside.

There have been several shootings in Vaughan recently, and Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua issued a statement on Saturday assuring residents that the city is working closely with York Regional Police.

"We understand the public's concern over the senseless shootings, but we should not live in fear. These terrible tragedies appear to be isolated and not intended for the larger community," Bevilacqua said in the statement.

There is no suspect description yet in this latest shooting.

"We're really seeking witnesses right now," said Pattenden.
