ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Police say a 32-year-old man has died after a boat capsized on a western Labrador lake Thursday evening.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says the man's body was found after an extensive search by several emergency crews.

Police say officers arrived at Canning Lake, just west of Labrador City, at about 6:10 p.m. Thursday after the force received a call for help.

They found that a boat had flipped over in the water and that two of its three occupants had managed to get safely to shore.

The force says a search then began for the missing third occupant, adding that his body was found just after noon the following day.

Const. James Cadigan says the man was from the community of Wabush, N.L., about seven kilometres southeast of Labrador City.
