36 days, 3 holes-in-one for High River man

Pat Feeney has the skills and the luck, but that combination has cost him at the Highwood Golf and Country Club in High River.

You see, Feeney has managed to hit three holes-in-one in just over a month at the southern Alberta course. Tradition dictates he has to buy a round after each one.

"It gets a little expensive," he told The Homestretch.

"It's unbelievable, it's been about 10 years since I had the last one, so to get three in a little over a month is just unbelievable."

Yes, that's right, this isn't his first bit of luck — Feeney has sunk a total of eight holes-in-one in his life.

'They just call it a Feeney'

Of course, Feeney does have some odds in his favour, including the fact he plays about 100 rounds each year along with eight friends.

"They just can't believe it. They call me very lucky," he said of his golf mates.

"It happens throughout the round, if I make a poor shot and get a good break, they just call it a Feeney."

If the 65-year-old retiree has any tricks up his sleeves for would-be hole-in-oners, he's not sharing.

"Just hit it at the hole and wait," he said. "It will always come. It will come to most, anyway."
