'Growing concern' over missing mom and baby

Christina Lynn Potter and her five-week-old daughter were last seen on the evening of Dec. 17, in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Markham Road in Toronto.

Toronto police have again asked for the public’s help locating a missing mom and her newborn baby — noting the "growing concern" since the pair were last seen on Tuesday night.

Christina Lynn Potter, 30, and her five-week-old child were last seen at about 9:30 p.m. that evening in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Markham Road.

The police turned to the public earlier this week, with no luck. They re-released the few available details on the case on Friday, with an added sense of urgency and concern for the baby.

"Police are concerned for the health and well-being of the child," a police spokeswoman told reporters.

She added police are hoping to be contacted by Potter herself or, "anybody who knows her, potentially works with her, or perhaps even lives in a building that has seen [her] with a child."

Potter is described as white, five-foot, six inches tall. She has a heavy build, shoulder-length blonde hair, blue eyes and possibly an eyebrow ring. She is also known as Christina Lynn Nunez Guzman.

Little is known about the child. Though initially described by police as a girl, police on Friday said the child is "believed to be a girl." The child's name is not known.

Anyone with information is urged to call police at 416-808-4300, or to call Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
