5 fun things to do in Windsor-Essex this weekend

The Windsor region has plenty of fun and interesting things to do this weekend — from an anniversary bash at a local comedy club to a monster truck rally and a craft beer pub crawl.

Monster Trucks

Saturday, Saturday, SATURDAY!

The WFCU Centre is transforming into a dirt-filled, monster truck pit of car-crushing madness.

Watch as Bounty Hunter, Black Stallion and Red Baron bash and crash old clunkers into pieces.

Throw in some dirt bikes, ATV races and BMX acrobatics and you're in for a night full of bumps, jumps and gas-guzzling pandemonium.

The event starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, Saturday, SATURDAY!

Windsor Loves Burlesque

It's a night of racy — but tasteful — cabaret and comedy.

"Windsor Loves Burlesque" takes place at the Loop Complex in downtown Windsor Saturday from 7 p.m until 11 p.m.

It's being organized by a local burlesque dancer Nicole Demers and features vintage costumes and playful dancing.

This is an adult only event.

Movement Electronic Music Festival

That strange thumping noise coming from across the river over the weekend is not the return of the mysterious Windsor Hum.

The 15th annual Movement Electronic Music Festival takes place in Hart Plaza in Detroit.

The event runs from Saturday until Monday, the Memorial Day holiday in the United States.

More than 100 artists will take part, including Snoop Dogg and Windsor's own Richie Hawtin.

Detroit is the birthday of techno music and the event is known to attract up to 100,000 fans.

Downtown Flight Club

That's Flight Club — not Fight Club, and it's all about sampling Ontario craft beer.

Up to 50 beers will be available for sampling across five bars: Phog Lounge, Villains Beastro, Craft Heads, the Windsor Beer Exchange and Snack BBQ.

The bars all downtown, all within a half kilometer of each other. There are 150 tickets available, and some are still up for grabs.

Participants begin at one bar and have 45 minutes to sample beers before being whisked away to another bar. Pour and repeat.

The flight takes off Friday at 6 p.m. and flies until midnight.

Comedy Quarry Anniversary

The Comedy Quarry is celebrating its second anniversary this weekend. Friday's show starts at 9 p.m. with two more Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

The venue is inviting some top comedy talent to celebrate, including Detroit comedian Ron Taylor, a finalist in last year's Border City Comedy Festival.

The Comedy Quarry is located on Ottawa Street in the lower level of Rockhead Pub.
