A multi-vehicle collision between Kingston and Napanee on Highway 401 Sunday evening left several people injured.

The collision is under investigation, but it happened around 9:30 p.m. and involved a motorcycle and two larger vehicles, said the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in a statement Monday.

Five people were transported to the hospital, according to police: two with serious, life-threatening injuries, including the motorcycle driver, and three with non-life-threatening injuries.

The westbound highway was closed at the Camden East Road or County Road 4 interchange until mid-Monday afternoon.

The crash happened in Loyalist Township, about 30 kilometres northwest of downtown Kingston and 155 kilometres from downtown Ottawa.
