5 things to do around Windsor this weekend

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, look no further, CBC's Mike Evans has put together a list of events everyone can take part in.

1. Border City Wrestling Can Am Rising

Champion Phil Atlas will be there even though he broke his ankle back in May. It's all healed up now, and he'll be putting his championship belt on the line. But all the wrestlers are good performers and never fail to impress. This time around it's all local talent, young guys trying to make a name for themselves on the wrestling circuit.

This event is on Friday night starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Caboto Club. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Evans suggests getting there early if
to get a good seat, or browse around at the souvenir booths and get an autograph, or buy one of those cool Mexican wrestler masks.

2. Tecumseh Corn Festival

This is the festival's 39th year, making it one of the longest running in the region.

This festival is about delicious corn on the cob, but there's also a car show, the miss Tecumseh pageant, a parade, live bands such as Suzie McNeil and Down With Webster. There's a corn shucking contest, and a corn eating contest.

It goes from Saturday to Sunday and it takes place at in Lacasse Park.

3. Art by the River Amherstburg

This festival has been around even longer— this is its 47th year, and it has always been held during the last weekend before Labour Day.

It takes place at Fort Malden, so you can check out the beautiful grounds there and shop for some really nice art from about 150 different vendors.

There's also live music and something called a "lil' artist workshop," where kids can create their own masterpieces and then bring them home and hang on the mantle.

This is on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m.

4. Filming of Batman vs Superman

Last summer Transformers Part 4 was being filmed in Detroit, now they're filming another big movie, Batman Vs Superman. There are filming locations all over downtown and Corktown, Detroit.

If you head over there you may see some giant sets and some police cars with "Metropolis" written on them. Also, Ben Affleck is paying Batman this time around, so you may spot him around town as well.

5. Dominion House Tavern Bike Drive

The Dominion House Tavern is holding a bike drive for kids in conjunction with the Sandwich Festival that's happening on September 6th and 7th.

Currently, they are collecting a bunch of old bikes. They've already collected more than 50 bikes with more coming in all the time.

The also have a corporate sponsor that will provide all the helmets.
