7 restaurants require re-inspections, roaches seen in latest Dallas health inspections

Several restaurants required re-inspections and roaches were observed in the latest Dallas health inspections, according to city data.

There were 273 restaurant inspections from Oct. 15 to Nov. 14.

Dallas inspections of businesses that serve food are based on a 100-point system. A 100 is a perfect score and a 70 is considered to be extremely poor.

Scores below 80 require a re-inspection, scores below 70 require a follow-up inspection within 10 days or closure, and scores below 60 require closure and re-inspection before a place to eat re-opens.

No restaurants failed and none scored 69 or below.

Seven restaurants received scores between 70 and 79 and required re-inspections:

  • Sonic Grocery Store at 4820 East Grand Avenue, 72

  • Big Daddy’s Supermarket at 6204 Bexar Street, 74

  • Morales Taqueria at 1913 South Edgefield Road, 75

  • Texas Wing Stop at 3118 Al Lipscomb Way, 77

  • Lyari Cafe at 11641 Harry Hines Boulevard, 79

  • Old Hag’s Pizza and Pasta at 1315 West Davis Street, 79

  • T C Grocery at 5050 Crozier Street, 79

Restaurants scoring between a 70 and 79 pass, but require a re-inspection within 30 days.

Mercat Restaurant at 2501 North Harwood Street was the only restaurant that had a follow-up inspection.

Inspectors observed roaches at:

  • Taqueria La Union at 6326 C F Hawn Freeway, 81

  • Mr. Taco at 1314 South Buckner Boulevard, 83

  • La Madeleine at 8687 North Central Expressway 640, 92

  • Hogg New Tech Center at 1144 North Madison Avenue, 97

Mariscos El Guero Sports Bar and Grill at 10230 Harry Hines Boulevard scored an 81 but received a citation due to failure to obtain a certificate of occupancy.

Inspectors observed improper cold holding of food at Mardi Gras Daiquiri & Cafe at 9245 Skillman Street. The restaurant will be issued a citation in its next inspection if temperatures are not below 41 degrees at all times.
