Calgary police are asking the public to come forward with information in the case of a fatal pedestrian collision.
A 71-year-old man was struck by a thief in a stolen car as he crossed the street on Sept. 24 and has since died in hospital.
The incident took place on Falconridge Drive N.E. at around 1:30 p.m.
The culprit stole a white, 2010 Honda Civic from a fast-food restaurant parking lot near the intersection of Falconridge Drive and Falsbridge Drive N.E. As the male suspect drove away, the Honda's owner tried to climb onto the car to stop him.
The thief turned east onto Falconridge Drive, and the owner fell from the car. As the thief drove away, he struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the street.
The driver did not stop.
Calgary EMS transported the 71-year-old to hospital with critical injuries. Police say the man passed away late Tuesday in hospital.
The Honda Civic was found abandoned shortly after the incident.
The owner of the car was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
Calgary Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may know the identity of the suspect.
Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency number at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
