77-year-old man killed in Terra Ceia car accident, Florida Highway Patrol says

A 77-year-old Terra Ceia man died Tuesday morning after a Jeep backed into him, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Troopers say a 17-year-old girl was backing a Jeep out of a private driveway at 800 Bayshore Drive near Liles Street Tuesday at around 7:09 a.m. when she struck a man in the driveway who was taking the trash out to the road.

The man was pronounced dead at Manatee Memorial Hospital, according to a news release.

The victim’s name has not been released to the public.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate the accident. Further information about the crash was not immediately available Tuesday afternoon.
