A49 closed as lorry crashes into buildings
A major road has been closed outside Shrewsbury after a lorry left the road and hit two buildings.
Emergency services were called shortly before 05:30 GMT on Monday following reports of the crash on the A49 in Bayston Hill.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews used cutting equipment to release one person from the vehicle.
Police said the the driver was not thought to be in a life-threatening condition.
The road has been shut in both directions between the A5 and the B4371 near Church Stretton. West Mercia Police said it was likely to be closed for some time.
Diversions have been put in place and drivers have been urged to find alternative routes.
Footage of the scene posted on social media showed the lorry had come to a halt after hitting a residential property and then The Three Fishes pub.
Posting on Facebook, the pub described the incident as "catastrophic" and said it had caused "severe structural damage" to the premises.
"However, everyone is OK. The pub will be closed for the foreseeable future," it added.
