Abbotsford firefighters battle blaze inside truck repair shop

Abbotsford firefighters prevented a fire from spreading through a large business complex after a semi-truck caught fire.

The owners of the building called 911 after a semi-truck caught fire inside a repair shop on the 31000-block of Wheel Avenue.

Fire crews arrived shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday morning and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage.

"The owners of the building are on scene and credit to them, their alarm company called them and they were able to notify fire very quickly, which stopped the loss at where it is at this time," said Assistant Fire Chief Craig Bird.

The garage suffered heavy smoke damage, but crews were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to the rest of the business complex.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Bird said it does not appear to be suspicious.
