Accessory to murder charges withdrawn in Jacob Thompson homicide

Woman charged after son appears in court on murder charge

A woman has pleaded guilty to obstructing police in the homicide investigation of Jacob Thompson, and charges of accessory to murder after the fact, laid against her and another woman, have been withdrawn.

Geneva Kennedy, 39, was originally charged in late September with obstructing police and accessory to murder after the fact. Brianna Kennedy, 20, was charged with accessory to murder after the fact.

Thompson, 40, died in hospital after being shot at a rowhouse in the 2100 block of Elmira Drive on Saturday, Sept. 24.

On Nov. 16, Geneva Kennedy pleaded guilty to obstructing police and was sentenced to 18 days in jail after being given credit for 72 days spent in pre-sentence custody. She was also sentenced to 12 months of probation and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge fee of $200. The charge of accessory to murder after the fact was withdrawn.

On Dec. 6, the charge of accessory to murder after the fact laid against Brianna Kennedy was also withdrawn, according to court records.

No other arrests have been made in the case.
