Ada County coroner confirms body in Boise canal is 5-year-old boy who went missing

The Ada County coroner confirmed that the body found in a Boise canal is 5-year-old Matthew Glynn, a boy who went missing during his 5th birthday party Monday.

Boise police had launched an expansive search for him before they found him the next day in a canal near his home, around West State and Alamosa streets, according to previous Idaho Statesman reporting.

The official cause of death is drowning, and the death was ruled an accident, according to the Ada County Coroner’s Office.

“It is heartbreaking to have such a conclusion to this effort when we had hope to find Matthew alive,” Police Chief Ron Winegar said Tuesday.
