Advance voting sees an increase of over 95 voter turnouts

The 2021 Municipal Election is fast approaching. Coaldale residents will be voting for a new town council which includes a mayor and six councillors.

The first two days of advanced voting for the 2021 Municipal Election, held Oct. 2 and Oct. 5 at Coaldale Community Centre, saw 573 Coaldale resident cast their ballots.

"We have already seen an increase in voter turnout, up by 95 voters from the last municipal election in 2017. For this election, due to COVID, we increased to four advance vote opportunities for voters in hopes that more residents attend an advance vote date to lessen the congestion on Election Day”. Lana Antony, returning officer for the municipal election said.

There is one more day for advance voting in Coaldale on Oct. 14 from 2-8 p.m.

For Election Day Monday, Oct.18, from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m., eligible voters can vote at the Coaldale Community Centre.
