'AGT' judges and fans confused by a night full of underwhelming performances

It's quite possible that America's Got Talent did not save the best for last in the overall scheme of the Qualifiers round because the fourth set of acts this week were pretty underwhelming.

Even judges Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara, who generally stay on the positive side of their feedback, voiced their disappointment during a couple of the acts, while Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel held nothing back. In fact, almost all of the eleven acts of the night received criticism from at least one judge and two of the acts – kid a capella group Acapop! and London's Jackass-style stunt/comedy group the Lazy Generation – received red buzzers.

The bad news for AGT viewers is they had to sit through two hours of mostly so-so performances. However, the good news is, it’ll probably be much easier than usual for viewers to vote through just two of the 11 acts to the Season 17 finale, since it wasn't a totally competitive week.

And on the bright side, not all the performances were a drab. The judges were once again blown away by deepfake act MetaPhysic, who Simon deemed "the best act, I believe, of the series so far," little-girl screamo singer Harper and comedian Mike E. Winfield, whom Howie Mandel invited to open for him at his next standup show September 9th in New York.
