‘Who Gave Permission to Become Gen Dyer’: Tejashwi on Munger Clash

As the first phase of polling in the Bihar Assembly elections commences, the ‘mahagathbandhan’ held a press conference in Patna on Wednesday, 28 October.

The grand alliance spoke about the Munger incident in which over 30 people were injured and one was killed. Slamming the Nitish Kumar government, Tejashwi Yadav asked: “This double-engine government definitely had a role in it. We want to ask Sushil Modi, who gave permission to become General Dyer?”

He further stated that the incident should be investigated.

“This is not a normal incident. We need a high court-monitored probe. Remove the DSP and SP,” Tejaswi Yadav said.

Yadav also said that the law and order in the state have gone for a toss.

AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala also attacked the Nitish Kumar government, he said: “There is a 'Nirday Kumar' and 'Nirmam Modi' government in Bihar.”

The conference was addressed by Tejashwi Yadav, Randeep Singh Surjewala and Shakti Singh Gohil, among others.

A 25-year old man was killed, after police allegedly opened fire amid a clash over a delay in Durga Puja immersion in Bihar’s Munger on Monday, 26 October.

Elections to the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly are being held in three phases. The voting for the first phase is being held on Wednesday.

The dates for the second and third phase of polling are 3 November and 7 November respectively. Meanwhile, counting of all votes will take place on 10 November.
