Air raid alert issued nationwide in Ukraine as Russian MIGs with hypersonic missiles take off


Air alert was announced throughout Ukraine due to the takeoff of two Russian MiG-31K fighter jets, Air Force of Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Telegram on May 22.

They said that two fighter jets were in the air, taking off from Savasleyka airfield in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast of Russia.

During the alert, military urges not to ignore air raid warnings.

The MiG-31K is a carrier of the Kh-47 Kinzhal supersonic missile, with claimed range of 3000km (1200 miles) and top speed reaching Mach 10 (12348 km/h or 7672 mph).
