Alesha Dixon has shared how Simon Cowell might be able to appear on Britain's Got Talent's live shows after he broke his back.

The 41-year-old appeared on This Morning on Wednesday where she spoke on how the music mogul could potentially judge via live video link when filming kicks off at the end of the month.

The mother-of-two said the BGT team were "devastated" by his accident but she had been receiving updates from his partner Lauren Silverman and was feeling positive.

"I've not been able to stop thinking about them all. It's absolutely horrific, we're all devastated and worried about Simon but the positive thing is that he's in good spirits and Lauren says that slowly he's on the mend.

"I've got all my fingers and toes crossed that come the live shows for Britain's Got Talent we can hopefully have Simon on a live link because we love him," she divulged.

Cowell, 60, underwent six hours of surgery at the weekend after breaking his back while testing out an E-bike at his Malibu home.

Despite the worrying injuries, the father-of-one confirmed he was okay and went on to joke about his accident. He tweeted: "If you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time."

The live shows of the talent competition had to be postponed due to the coronavirus, although the pre-filmed auditions aired in spring as usual.

Dixon told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on This Morning: "We start filming the live shows at the end of the month, I can't wait to get back with the gang and just do something lighthearted and fun."

She added that she had been told a "virtual audience" would be taking the place of a live one as social distancing rules remain.

Dixon and Cowell are joined on the judging panel by Amanda Holden and David Walliams, with the programme presented by Ant and Dec.
