Alexandra Burke was overcome with emotion as she reflected on her Strictly Come Dancing experience on live telly on Friday night.

The former X Factor star and her professional partner Gorka Márquez were both in the BBC ballroom for a very special edition of companion show Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, ahead of tomorrow night's grand finale.

Alexandra grew emotional in discussing how her ballroom training has helped her cope with both the tragic loss of her mother days before the Strictly premiere and, later, well-documented cyberbullying.

"Honestly, I don't think people realise how much it means," she said. "I'll just be honest and say that some people may not like seeing me cry, but I've been through the toughest time in my life and I saw the light at the end of the tunnel.

"I'm still trying to reach [that light]. I've had so much fun. If it wasn't for everyone at It Takes Two, Strictly, everyone, who supported what I've gone through, I don't know where I'd be. I'm just really grateful."

Alexandra also had a heartwarming thank you for her professional partner Gorka Márquez, who helped her achieve a perfect score from the judges in the semi-finals last weekend.

"I'm just so grateful that you have been a part of this journey," she told Gorka. "You've made it so special. Whatever the outcome is tomorrow, I've made a friend for life. That's what matters."

Their journey isn't quite over yet. Alexandra and Gorka will tackle three different dances tomorrow night as they try to beat Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice, Gemma Atkinson and Aljaž Skorjanec, and Joe McFadden and Katya Jones to the Glitterball Trophy.

Strictly Come Dancing's 2017 final will air on Saturday (December 16) from 6.30pm on BBC One.
