Fishing can be an unforgiving sport. On a bad day unlucky fisherman can go for hours without a bite. But it’s even worse when you get a fish on the line only to lose it like when this young boy was robbed of his catch by one of nature’s greatest predators.

In a video posted to Facebook by Bass Masters and Fish Experts, a boy identified only as Connor struggles to reel in a fish. The camera pans down to reveal a large redfish pulling the line.

The voice of the man filming can be heard as Conner frantically reels.

“The alligator’s coming, Conner,” says the man, “the alligator’s coming!”

A moment later an enormous alligator enters the frame and chomps the fish in its jaws.

“Pull it out!” Yells the man, but it’s too late. The alligator casually swims away with the boy’s prize catch in its jaws.

Where did this take place? One of the comments on the video — which has more than 10 million views — is revealing.

Writes Colton McKee:

“I don’t even have to ask I KNOW this is Florida.”
