Alta. man accused of multiple break-ins across Saskatchewan

Teen driver dies in rollover near Steinbach, Man.

A 52-year-old man from Eckville, Alta. has been charged with 34 counts of breaking and entering after a string of thefts across Saskatchewan.

The RCMP said the investigation included 21 detachment areas all across the province. Police believe small-town businesses and camper trailers were the main targets, dating as far back as June 2015.

"The number of charges laid showcases the in-depth investigation and teamwork that was required to bring a conclusion to so many break and enter and theft complaints, said Sgt. Kelly West. "It was excellent investigative skills that resulted in connections being made and further charges ultimately laid."

The accused was originally arrested after a break-in at a business in Moosomin. At the time, the man was charged with four counts of breaking and entering, as well as possession of a weapon obtained by crime and possession of stolen property.

Police believe the man is also responsible for thefts in three Manitoba towns and villages.
