Amanda Holden proved that lockdown needn’t mean dressing down as she donned a shimmering ballgown to take out her bins.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 49, wore a floor length dress in sparkling pink with an asymmetric neckline to get involved with #BallgownBinsOut, inspired by a Heart Radio listener.

Sharing an Instagram snap of her dragging her wheelie bin towards the top of her drive while holding the train of her dress, the presenter added the caption: “Wheelie wanted to dress up tonight!”

She also added the hashtags #BallgownBinsOut and #GlamForYourBinman.

Holden then posted a slow motion video of her strutting down her driveway in the gown, flicking her hair for the camera.

Her unusual photoshoot went down well with her followers and famous friends, with former The One Show host Matt Baker chiming in with some refuse-related puns of his own to comment: “Bin feeling rubbish wheelie cheered me up.”

Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse wrote “I mean YESSSSSSSS” with a string of fire emojis to signal her approval while Holden’s former Cutting It co-star Sarah Parish added: “Love it!”

Comedian Alan Carr was the first star to follow Holden’s lead and stage a similar shoot, sharing a hilarious video showing him pushing his wheelie bin out of his garage while wearing a sequinned jumpsuit and a short red wig.

“Inspired by @noholdenback and I’m serving up wheelie bin realness - why not look sexy when you’re putting out your trash?” he wrote on Instagram.

#BallGownBinsOut was inspired by Heart Radio listener Angie, who called in to the station to talk about how she had been brightening up her days in lockdown by choosing fabulous outfits to complete chores in.

Holden has been keeping her social media followers updated on how she has been entertaining herself during the coronavirus lockdown, sharing clips of herself cooking, hanging out with her family and playing tricks on her young daughters.

She recently returned to the Heart radio studios to present her weekday breakfast shows and is set to appear in the new series of Britain’s Got Talent, which kicks off on Saturday with audition episodes recorded earlier this year.
