Amanza Smith's stylist Sammie Moussallem exclusively tells PEOPLE he is apologizing for his homophobic comments about Chrishell Stause and her partner G Flip.

During the newest season of Selling Sunset, Stause, 43, called out Moussallem and costar Nicole Young for making homophobic comments. Stause explained in one of her confessionals that Moussallem called her a “fake lesbian.” She claimed he went on a “very public rant” and also that Stause is “nothing but a green card to G.”

“I apologize for it,” Moussallem exclusively tells PEOPLE. “Six months ago, me being a professional, I tried to contact her many times, whether through my publicist or through my manager who represents me to contact her to have a conversation with her and she hasn't responded.”

“I said it out of spite and what I said before, I didn't really mean,” he admits. “I overreacted ... I should have never said what I said on social media.”

“We're adults ... and it's affected my business, me being silent to the situation that happened prior as well too, and my livelihood and everything like that,” he adds. “And I would like to move on from this and be adults.”

“We're both members of the LGBTQ community. I'm a member, and she's a member,” he states. The stylist also explains why he was “being very reactive when [Stause] used” the word homophobic, saying the “term was a little bit used loosely.”

But as for the next steps, Moussallem says he “would like to speak to her,” adding, “Chrishell, we're adults, let's move on.”

PEOPLE reached out to a representative for Stause and the rep did not comment.

Smith, 47, also exclusively tells PEOPLE her reaction to the situation: “It was horrific,” she says. “You don't speak negatively in my house.”

She notes that she spoke to Moussallem and “addressed it and addressed what he did to me.” She explains that “it's very clear, like, if he ever does or says anything — it doesn't even have to be that nasty."

“It's nice to hear an apology,” she says, acknowledging that “it's not gonna change anything with Chrishell.”

Although Moussallem has since apologized for the remarks, at the time of filming, Stause asked Smith to uninvite Moussallem from her 47th birthday party — and Smith obliged. Smith tells PEOPLE that she “felt a little bit bad when [she] uninvited him,” but she notes “only a little bit, because you make your bed, [now lie in it], you know?”
