Amazon plans to hire 700 Wichita-area employees for the holidays this year

Amazon plans to hire 700 Wichita-area workers for the holidays to staff its Park City fulfillment center and Wichita delivery station, the company announced Tuesday.

The new job openings come amid a nationwide push to hire 250,000 employees in a variety of “full-time, seasonal, and part-time roles,” the shipping giant said in a news release.

It did not say specifically how many of the Wichita-area jobs will be seasonal and how many will be long term.

“Whether someone is looking for a short-term way to make extra money, or is hoping to take their first step toward a fulfilling and rewarding career at Amazon, there’s a role available for them,” John Felton, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, said in the release.

Company spokesperson Andy DiOrio said that “for anyone that does take a seasonal role, they are welcome to move into full- or part-time positions if they so choose.” Hiring begins now and goes through the holidays.

Jobs range from “packing and picking to sorting and shipping,” it states. Positions are open to applicants from all backgrounds and experience levels.

According to the release, customer fulfillment and transportation employees can earn, on average, over $20.50 per hour, with some locations paying as much as $28 an hour for those roles.
