Amber Alert issued for Saskatchewan teenager

UPDATE (12:10 p.m. EST): RCMP say Kayla Natomagan, a Saskatchewan teen who was the subject of an Amber Alert, has been found safe. The suspect, however, remains at large.

ORIGINAL STORY: The RCMP has issued an Amber Alert for Kayla Natomagan, a 17-year-old girl who has gone missing from the Lac La Ronge First Nation in Saskatchewan. She was last seen around 3 a.m. local time at her home on the reserve.

Natomagan is described as an Aboriginal girl with brown eyes and long brown hair with gold highlighted tips. She stands about 5'6" tall and weighs roughly 140 pounds. She also has an earring at the top of her right ear.

According to reports, police believe Natomagan may have been abducted by Jonas Budd, an Aboriginal male who stands 5'9" tall, weighs approximately 170 pounds and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Budd has black hair and brown eyes. He also has several tattoos, including a bear paw on his left forearm, a ribbon with the name 'Nicole' on his left shin, black feathers on his upper torso, and an eagle head on his left calf.

He is believed to be driving a grey, 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 with Saskatchewan plate 043 JEZ.

“He is not to be approached as investigators believe he has a rifle with him,” police said, according to CTV News.

Police cannot confirm the direction that Budd and Natomagan may be travelling, but Budd reportedly has connections in quite a few Saskatchewan communities. CTV News is reporting Sturgeon Landing, Cumberland House, Prince Albert and Pinehouse as potential destinations. Budd also has connnections in the community of Thompson, Manitoba.

Police are asking anyone with information to immediately call the police, 1-877-SOAMBER or 1-877-762-6237.
