New America’s Got Talent Spinoff Premise Revealed — Which Judge Is Out?
For the first time ever, the America’s Got Talent franchise is pitting judge against judge.
NBC on Thursday revealed America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League, a new spinoff that will see each judge draft their ultimate lineup of “winners, finalists, viral sensations and fan favorites from AGT and Got Talent franchises around the world, all pre-selected by America in an initial vote,” according to the official logline. “The judges will be competing alongside the contestants and will mentor and guide the acts throughout the competition with the hopes of earning bragging rights and seeing an act from their team crowned the champion of AGT: Fantasy League.”

Three out of four current judges will be back for Fantasy League: Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel. Sofia Vergara’s seat will be filled by Mel B, who previously judged Seasons 8-13 of AGT and Season 1 of AGT: The Champions. Terry Crews will retain hosting duties.
Following AGT‘s Season 18 finale on Wednesday, Sept. 27, fans will be able to suggest acts they want to see compete on AGT: Fantasy League by using the AGT app and nominating their favorite picks from more than five dozen acts. Forty of those acts will advance to the draft pool, at which point the judges will each select 10 show-stopping acts as part of their team.
During the competition, the Golden Buzzer will continue to be used to send acts straight to the finals — but there’s a twist: each judge can use their coveted Golden Buzzer for their own act or to steal an act from a fellow judges’ team.
AGT: Fantasy League does not yet have a premiere date, but is on tap to debut in 2024. Will you be watching?
