Harsh winter conditions (especially in Canada) can cause dry, brittle hair that becomes prone to breakage. If you already have dry or damaged hair, cold weather can worsen this condition.

As we head into the colder seasons, I have started to think about how I can prepare my hair for the upcoming weather changes. I knew it was time to do some trial and error, so I decided to test out the The Kure Intense Bond Repair Hair Mask to see whether I would get results after one use as it claims to give.

My impressions

The Amika hair mask is a creamy deep moisturizing treatment that aims to hydrate, strengthen, and repair hair. It works on all hair types to target dryness, damage, split ends and breakage — which is exactly what I was looking for.

I was impressed to find that immediately after using it, my hair felt so soft, and looked shiny too. I noticed a huge difference in shine and volume and I also didn't notice as much breakage as I usually do after washing my hair. Once my hair dried, my curls were even more defined and less frizzy.

The product is formulated with sea buckthorn, mango butter, borage oil, and shea butter, so naturally it smelled really nice. With all those hydrating ingredients, I would recommend applying this mask just to mid length and ends to avoid oily roots. You'll also want to avoid applying conditioner, since this is meant to replace it once a week.

What are Sephora shoppers saying?

Despite being a new release, Sephora shoppers have given the mask a 4.8-star rating and it has already received more than 1,900 "loves" from shoppers.

One shopper who rated the mask a 5-star said they "love this hair mask!" After recently bleaching their hair, they went on to say that this mask made their hair feel "soft and smooth again."

"This stuff makes my curls super soft and touchable," reads another review. "It hydrated and definitely helped keep my curl pattern throughout the week until wash day. It was very thick and luxurious feeling and of course you can’t beat the smell."

The one downside to this hair mask that reviewers have noted is that it does contain fragrance. Reviewers have noted that it's "pleasant and not overpowering," but it may be an issue if you're sensitive to scents.

The verdict

For the price and size, the product is definitely worth it — my hair looked and felt healthier immediately after one use. It wasn't life changing, but overall it's a really nice mask that will make your hair shiny and soft after just one use.

Since this mask will be replacing the Intense Repair Mask, I would recommend giving it a try if you're a fan of the original. You may want to see if this version suits your hair, or if it's time to stock up on the original before it's gone for good.
