Year in Review 2017: Top sports search terms

We certainly didn’t need any confirmation that hockey is Canada’s favourite sport, but our list of 2017’s top sports search terms confirms just that.

Hockey accounts for a whopping seven out of our top 10 sports search terms of the year. After every Canadian NHL team missed the playoffs in 2016, five of seven Canadian teams qualified for the postseason in 2017. Canadians love their hockey, but they seem to love playoff hockey even more. The Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Raptors, and a thrilling Australian Open final round out Yahoo Canada’s top 10 sports search terms of the year.
