Amusement park opens restaurant that delivers food using roller coasters

If you like roller coasters but prefer to avoid the stomach-turning effects, a new theme park restaurant in England could be just for you.

The aptly named Rollecoaster Restaurant at the Alton Towers Resort in Staffordshire, England features roller coasters that deliever thrills and food to your table.

The dizzying, twirling tracks are the prominent – and inescapable - feature of the joint. After diners order their meal via tablet, they can watch as their orders are launched down two gravity-defying loop-the-loops before dropping 8 meters down the “tornado spiral” to their table.

You’d expect such a journey to make things messy, but the reality is quite the opposite. All the meals are encased in a special stainless steel pot, where they’re latched shut and then launched down the track.

The experience is about the same amount of fun as you’d have being on a roller coaster. Except, instead of feeling unsettled in your stomach and perhaps even nauseous, you’ll leave feeling pleasantly satisfied and full.
