The couple agreed that during this situation, they found out who their friends were and who were not. Holmes asked Robach to “name names” of the people that supported her was Sara Haines, co-host of The View.

“One of the people who wouldn’t stop texting me, even when I didn’t respond, Sara Haines,” Robach revealed. “She was an absolute pleasure. She said, ‘I’m going to keep texting you, I’m going to keep checking in on you.”

Holmes chimed in, saying, “They’re probably going to fire her after this airs.”

“I know, that’s why I was afraid,” Robach added. “I think it’s positive, but maybe it won’t be positive for her.”

She continued, “You also worried about being connected to us may somehow bring you down. So I don’t want to necessarily do that, but she was incredible. She and I have been friends for 15 years. We go all the way back to NBC.”

Robach commended Haines for still checking in on her and making a “statement” by letting them be seen in public together.

“That does show incredible support,” Robach said.

Before returning to The View in 2020 for a second stint, Haines hosted the third hour of Good Morning America alongside Michael Strahan. Keke Palmer would later join as the third co-host before the show shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic. ABC would evolve GMA3 into a news show which is when Robach and Holmes came in as the lead anchors.
