Andy Samberg grilled by kid reporters on 'Chip 'n Dale' vs. 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' and his 'marriage' to Selena Gomez

"I think I'm starting to understand how this show works," Andy Samberg laughed during his appearance on Kid Gloves, Yahoo Entertainment's interview series hosted by wise-cracking kid reporters Lyla and Luna (daughters of senior correspondent Kevin Polowy).

Maybe Samberg was expecting questions about mermaids and unicorns. Instead the star of Disney+'s hilarious new animated comedy Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers (in which he and John Mulaney voice the faded late-'80s toon stars reteaming for a crime-solving adventure) was peppered with hard-hitting queries like "Who'd win in a fight to the death, Chip 'n Dale or Alvin and the Chipmunks?" — and how exactly he'd terminate Alvin and company.

"By exploding with my mind," he answered, drawing a quick rebuke from the girls.

"I did what you asked! You put this on me! I don't have any remorse about it. We were all complicit in this."

Lyla 'n Luna also grilled the Saturday Night Live alum and Lonely Island member about his "marriage" to previous Kid Gloves guest Selena Gomez (the actors play husband and wife in the Hotel Transylvania series).

"I'm not married to Selena Gomez, but I imagine it would be great," he said. "She's a wonderful person. I've met her before and she's really nice."

Multiple questions later about his "marriage" to Gomez, and Samberg gave in.

"We have a very healthy marriage. It's going great. She's just the best. She's my rock and I lean on her."

And don't get the girls started on their latest obsession Is It Cake?, the Netflix sensation hosted by Samberg's fellow SNL family member Mikey Day.

Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers is now streaming on Disney+.
